Doolin endeavours to focus on matters on the pitch

Cork City and Bray Wanderers will meet at Turner's Cross in what should be an emotional encounter at Turner's Cross this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Leesdie club is on the brink of extinction after losing its High Court appeal against a winding-up order by the Revenue Commissioners.

Robert Mezeckis and Pat Sullivan have left the club after the squad were released from their contracts.

Joe Gamble (knee) is also rated as a major doubt, but other than that boss Paul Doolin will not have any injury or suspension concerns.

The City boss said that despite the circumstances, his side will still be focussed on collecting three points.

Doolin said: “Regardless of what happens, this is a home game for us and we have to go out looking to claim three points.

“We had a very good result in Derry on Sunday, and I believe that we deserved to win that game.”

Bray will be without four first-team players for the trip to Cork.

Gary McCabe is suspended having reached four penalty points and long-term injury victims Chris Deans (heel) and Paul Byrne (knee) will miss out.

Shane O'Neill injured his ankle early in last week’s game and has been added to the absentee list.

Otherwise manager Eddie Gormley has a full squad to pick from.

Gormley said: “We have to be professional, we know they have their problems but we have to prepare and go down to Cork and hopefully perform like last week and then we are in with a chance.”
