Wigan played out a 1-1 draw with Bundesliga side Hannover in Austria today.

Both goals came in the opening 12 minutes, with Jan Rosenthal beating Chris Kirkland in the eighth minute with a powerful shot that cut through a crowded penalty area.

Wigan needed only three minutes to level with Charles N’Zogbia’s corner picking out Mario Melchiot for a rare goal.

Jason Koumas went close in the second half after a fine piece of skill, but Latics boss Roberto Martinez was left questioning his side’s cutting edge at the game’s end.

“The end product is still missing,” he told the club’s official website.

“But it’s early days. The players are still getting used to a change in approach.”
