Bohemians always in control against Derry

Jason Byrne’s 16th goal of the season saw Bohemians regain their five-point lead at the top of the table tonight as they all but ended Derry’s title challenge.

Oozing confidence following their excellent display in their Champions League qualifier in Salzburg midweek, Bohemians ran Derry’s defence ragged in the first half, deservedly getting what would prove the game’s only goal on 19 minutes.

The defending from Paul Keegan’s free-kick was atrocious and Anto Murphy’s header back across goal was met by Byrne who volleyed emphatically past Ger Doherty.
