Win gives Bray hope
Drogheda United 1 Bray Wanderers 2
An Ian Ryan own goal and a second strike from Gary McCabe stemmed the flow of four defeats to give Bray’s survival hopes a massive boost as they burst Drogheda’s bubble at United Park tonight.
Drogheda, unbeaten in the previous six games, found themselves a goal down on 12 minutes when Ryan headed past his own keeper, Paul Skinner, in a defensive mix-up.
Bray doubled their lead on 21 minutes when winger McCabe let fly from all of 25 yards to beat Skinner for a second time.
Drogheda hit back on 38 minutes when in-form Shane Barrett slotted home a penalty after a James Chambers free-kick was handled inside the box.
Drogheda pressed hard throughout the second half, but Bray held firm for a much-needed win, even though they remain bottom.
