Baker heads Hoops into win over Galway
Shamrock Rovers 1 Galway United 0
Dessie Baker grabbed the only goal of the game as Shamrock Rovers moved to third place in the Premier League table.
Baker headed home Seanie O’Connor’s 52nd minute cross only as the Hoops’ persistence was rewarded.
Tadhg Purcell, Baker, and Gary Twigg were unfortunate not to score for Rovers, while Galway’s Gary Breen had a shot smothered by Barry Murphy following a Jay O’Shea corner.
Three minutes after the restart Hoops midfielder Greg Cameron had a penalty saved by Barry Ryan, but Baker pounced shortly after.
