Doolin: Dundalk will be tough test
Cork City will stay in touch at the top of the table if they can beat Dundalk at Turner’s Cross tonight, kick-off 8.00pm.
Robert Mezeckis, Davin O’Neill and Joe Gamble remain sidelined by injury for Cork, while Billy Dennehy missed out on the replay in Sligo with a hamstring injury and is very unlikely to feature.
City boss Paul Doolin said: “We had an excellent win over Dundalk earlier in the season and will be looking to repeat that result tonight.
“That win came early on in the run of wins we put together, but despite their league position, I know Dundalk will be a very tough test for us tonight.”
Dundalk will work with the same squad that beat Mervue in the FAI Cup last weekend and have no injury concerns to report.
Lilywhites boss Sean Connor said: “It’s important that we take a positive result from Cork to keep our momentum going heading into July when we will be able to strengthen the squad.
“It’s obviously going to be very tough, it’s a difficult place to go. Cork are challenging for the title and they will be very keen to get back to winning ways to gain a boost themselves going into the break.
“But we’ll go there positive and certainly not in fear.”
