Newcastle remained in limbo today as owner Mike Ashley stepped up his efforts to sell the club.

Keith Harris, chairman of investment bank Seymour Pierce, has turned his attention to the Middle East in the hunt for potential purchasers, and has travelled to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in recent days.
