Swansea end McCarthy interest

Swansea have pulled out of the race to sign Hamilton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Coca-Cola Championship side were keen to bring the 18-year-old PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year to the Liberty Stadium.

But manager Roberto Martinez admits McCarthy is out of of his price range.

He told the South Wales Evening Post: “Right now, James McCarthy would be an impossible task for us financially.”

Celtic and Portsmouth have both had bids for McCarthy rejected in the past month.
