Wayne Rooney returned to the Manchester United starting line-up but there was no place for Carlos Tevez as the Red Devils looked to move within a point of the Premier League title by beating Wigan.

Wayne Rooney has returned to the Manchester United starting line-up but there is no place for Carlos Tevez as the Red Devils looked to move within a point of the Premier League title by beating Wigan.

While Tevez is upset at his lack of opportunities, Rooney only made the bench for Sunday’s win over Manchester City.

However, the England international was back tonight, taking his place in a strikeforce which also includs Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wigan: Kingson, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa, Valencia, Cattermole, Scharner, Brown, N’Zogbia, Rodallega.

Subs: Pollitt, Edman, Watson, Koumas, De Ridder, Mido, Kapo.

Subs: Kuszczak, Neville, Giggs, Park, Nani, Rafael Da Silva, Tevez.
