Jay O’Shea scored a terrific free-kick to get Galway back to winning ways and heap the pressure on St Pat’s boss Jeff Kenna whose side have now lost five of the last six games.

Having tanked St Pat’s 3-0 at Richmond Park in the season’s opener, Galway flew into a sixth-minute lead when defender Gary Breen volleyed home O’Shea’s corner.

However, Breen turned villain on 32 minutes when he upended Stuart Byrne and Mark Quigley levelled from the resultant penalty.

O’Shea restored Galway’s lead two minutes into the second half with a sublime goal direct from a free-kick which proved the winner.
