City look to stretch unbeaten run

Cork City v Galway United

Cork City will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games when they take on Galway United at Turner’s Cross tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Stephen O’Donnell (knee) and Neal Horgan (elbow) remain sidelined, while Robert Mezeckis (Achilles) and Davin O’Neill (ankle) are both struggling and look unlikely to be available for the home side.

City boss Paul Doolin said: “The players are working well and I think we are becoming more of a unit. I think it will take time for us to gel fully, but we are moving in the right direction and the main thing is to build on what we have done already.

“We’ve been on a good run, but we’re not getting carried away as the important thing is that we develop consistency.”

United face a difficult game against an in-form Cork and boss Ian Foster will have to plan without Sean Kelly as he is on loan from City.

John Russell and Shane Fitzgerald are still unlikely to feature as both recover from ankle injuries.
