St Pat's survive late onslaught to beat Drogs

Stuart Byrne scored the winner against his former club, but St Pat’s had to hang on at the death to get back to winning ways.

Saints started well and Andy Haran punished a mistake to sidefoot them in front on 12 minutes.

Byrne then drilled home after Mark Quigley chested down Jason Gavin’s long ball to make it 2-0 on 55 minutes.

But Drogheda hit back with a diving header from Mark Duggan on 83 minutes and the same player deflected inches wide a minute from time as St Pat's held out.
