Arteta on the mend

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is making a good recovery from an operation last month to repair ruptured cruciate knee ligaments.

The Spaniard is out for the season and currently back home in San Sebastian with his parents.

Everton physio Mick Rathbone has flown out to see him and reports steady progress is being made.

Manager David Moyes said: “The initial stage of his recovery is going well. I have also spoken to Mikel and he seems to be in a quite positive frame of mind.”

Arteta will return to Everton’s Finch Farm training complex before the end of the season for further assessment.
