Edu calls for triumph in adversity

Maurice Edu admits it would be easy for Rangers to throw in the towel and blame a turbulent season for not winning the title.

However, the United States international insists every single player in the Ibrox dressing room is more determined than ever to end Celtic’s dominance of domestic football.

Rangers head into tonight’s game at St Mirren trailing their rivals by three points, with a mounting injury list to contend with and still reeling from the events which saw Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor suspended by the club.

But Edu firmly believes now is the time to show mental strength and demonstrate their ability to emerge even stronger.

“It’s a huge factor for us right now,” he said.

“You could look at all the things that have happened because of how the season has gone and, in some ways, you could say we could put our heads down and say ’Oh well.’

“But everyone in this locker room is a winner, we all want to win.”
