Injury concerns Aiden McGeady and Shay Given once again took no part in training with the Republic of Ireland squad in Malahide this evening.

McGeady arrived at the Irish training base in north Co. Dublin earlier today, but sat out the session, while Given remained with his club for further treatment, but was expected to join-up tonight.

Manager Giovanni Trapatonni has said he is optimistic both will be fit for Ireland's crucial World Cup qualifying double-header, which begins this weekend.

Victory for Ireland over Bulgaria on Saturday would take them 10 points clear of the third-placed side in the group ahead of next week’s trip to World Champions Italy.
