Vennegoor of Hessenlink back for Hoops

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink returned to the Celtic line-up for their Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Dundee United at Tannadice.

The Dutchman, who has only scored in one game this season, was dropped for the Co-operative Insurance Cup final win over Rangers at Hampden last week but came back to partner Scott McDonald in attack as manager Gordon Strachan made two changes to the side from last Sunday.

Hoops’ skipper Stephen McManus was left out along with Glenn Loovens as Lee Naylor came back in at left-back with Darren O’Dea moving in to the centre of defence to partner Gary Caldwell.

United midfielder Paul Caddis, on loan from Celtic, was barred from playing due to the terms of his agreement, his place taken by Craig Conway while injured Jon Daly was replaced by Francisco Sandaza.
