Goalkeeper keeps Galway top of the table

Bray Wanderers 2 Galway United 2

Barry Ryan was the Galway hero with a stoppage time penalty save to keep the Tribesmen top of the Premier Division table on goal difference.

Keeper Ryan parried away Gary McCabe’s 91st minute spot kick after the winger had been fouled by Iarflaith Davoren.

In a dramatic finish, three minutes earlier McCabe had fired home a penalty to level the match after Gary Breen had handled Jake Kelly’s shot.

In-form Galway took the lead on seven minutes when Shane Guthrie knocked Jay O’Shea’s corner back across goal for Vinny Faherty to stoop and head home.

Bray levelled nine minutes later with Paddy Kavanagh heading home after Kelly beat a defender to cross from the left.

But Galway were back in front on 21 minutes with a terrific solo goal from Cian McBrien, who raced across the edge of the Bray box to drill a low drive past Chris O’Connor into the bottom corner.
