Doubts over Hoops duo

Shamrock Rovers will be looking to maintain the momentum after last week’s victory in Tallaght as they travel to Dalymount to take on Bohemians, kick-off 7.35pm.

Rovers have doubts about Sean Webb (ankle) and Stephen Bradley (hamstring), but otherwise Michael O’Neill has a full-strength squad to call on for the Dublin derby.

O’Neill said: “Pat Flynn and Sean O’Connor are both back after suspension, while Darragh Maguire is still playing catch-up as he missed most of the pre-season.

“Everyone’s been working well this week in training, so there’ll be plenty of competition for places in the first 11 and on the bench for this game. We’re looking forward to it.”

Bohs must plan without captain Owen Heary as he is suspended and he will be joined in the stand by Neale Fenn (calf) and Killian Brennan (rib injury).

Mark Rossiter is also doubtful as he has an ankle infection, however Jason Byrne, Glenn Cronin and Brian Shelley all return.

Bohs boss Pat Fenlon said: “I think most genuine supporters can appreciate what Rovers have been through and will wish them well. I think they deserve their success. With four or five similar new grounds in the league, the domestic game would be in much healthier position.

“Looking to the game, I believe that Rovers could turn out to be title contenders with us this year. Michael O’Neill is a very good manager and he has a decent squad of players.

“I expect a very tough and tight game. I think that Rovers will bring a big crowd with them and I would appeal to our own fans to turn out in force and generate a noisy atmosphere to encourage the home side.”
