Saints still hopeful of title challenge

St Patrick’s Athletic travel to Leeside tomorrow looking to pick up their first points of the season as they take on Cork City in Turner’s Cross (kick-off 7.45 p.m.)

Despite losing the season’s opener to Galway by three goals, Saints’ boss Jeff Kenna has faith that his side can take something from this weekend and build towards a title challenge.

“It won’t be easy going to Turner’s Cross but we believe in ourselves, we have good players here and still believe that we can be challenging at the top of the table," Kenna said.

The Saints' injury worries continue with Brendan Clarke (foot), Steven Maher, Bobby Ryan and Glen Fitzpatrick (all knee) still out but last season’s top scorer Mark Quigley will have a fitness test today.

Gary Dempsey is still suspended but Jamie Harris and Dave Partridge both return to the squad after serving one-match bans.
