Celtic face Buddies in Scottish Cup quarter-final

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink returned from a one-game ban for Celtic’s Homecoming Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against St Mirren at New St Mirren Park.

The Dutchman replaced Georgios Samaras to partner Scott McDonald, whose brace against Kilmarnock on Wednesday took the Hoops top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The home side were thrashed 7-0 at Celtic Park last week and Jack Ross, sent off after giving away a penalty, returned to the Buddies’ defence at the expense of David Barron.

Scott Cuthbert – on loan from Celtic – had to step down due to the terms of the agreement and the stopper was replaced by Will Haining.
