Brennan directs praise onto Fenlon
Killian Brennan thinks that Pat Fenlon is the perfect manager to have in place as Bohemians set about defending their Premier Division title.
The tricky winger was one of the stand-out performers for The Gypsies last term as they scooped the league title as well as winning the FAI Ford Cup.
With the new campaign set to kick off on Friday evening, all eyes will be on the champions as they travel to Oriel Park to meet league newcomers Dundalk.
Even though they are favourites to win the match, the Dublin-based side won’t be taking anything for granted and Fenlon will ensure that they are fully focused on the task ahead.
Brennan has worked closely with the former Shelbourne boss for over a year now as part of the Bohemians squad and the Republic of Ireland U23 set-up, so he knows exactly what Fenlon is capable of.
“Pat (Fenlon) is a brilliant manager. You don’t win as much as he has without being excellent at your job,” said Brennan.
“He stops things in training and you can see that the players really listen to him. All of the players have a lot of time for him because he has been through it and won so many things.
“If you want to be a winner, then you listen to someone like him. Even some of the older lads in the squad like Owen Heary is fully tuned in when Pat is saying something as you can never stop learning.
“We want to win the league again and Pat knows what it takes to do that. He has been there and done it already. Hopefully he can help us retain the league, but I don’t think there is a better manager around for us right now.”
