Fleck debuts in Old Firm derby

Rangers manager Walter Smith handed 17-year-old John Fleck his Old Firm debut in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash against Celtic at Parkhead.

Fleck was included on the left-hand side of midfield with Northern Ireland's Kyle Lafferty the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation which had Lee McCulloch in the holding role in midfield.

Willo Flood made his Celtic debut in the Hoops’ midfield, manager Gordon Strachan pitching him in for the first time since signing the Irishman from Dundee United in the January transfer window.

Aiden McGeady was somewhat surprisingly dropped to the bench but skipper Stephen McManus returned as expected from a knee injury to take his place at the heart of the Celtic defence alongside Gary Caldwell.

Paul Hartley and Scott Brown teamed up in the centre of midfield with Shunsuke Nakamura wide on the right and Scott McDonald partnered Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink in attack.
