Cork referee Alan Kelly has been appointed to the knockout stages of a UEFA Cup match for the second year in succession, as Irish referees continue to earn significant international recognition in the field.

Kelly’s appointment to a Round of 32 UEFA Cup match last season was the first such appointment for an Irish referee in over 25 years.

UEFA has confirmed that Kelly will again be appointed to a Round of 32 match, when he officiates between Deportivo La Coruna and Aab Aalborg on February 26 next.

He will lead an all-Irish delegation, with Marc Douglas and Damien McGrath named as Assistant Referees and Anthony Buttimer named as the Fourth Official.
