Panucci to stay with Roma

Veteran Roma defender Christian Panucci will remain at the club until the end of the season, according to his agent.

The 35-year-old announced last week his wish to leave Roma after failing to earn a regular spot in Luciano Spalletti’s starting XI.

Panucci had been a reported target of Hull and Manchester City in the winter transfer market.

“Christian will remain at Roma and will respect his contract,” said Panucci’s agent Oscar Damiani.

“We have not been able to resolve his situation.

“We haven’t been able to reach an agreement, the offers we received were not considered good enough by the player.”

Panucci, who joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2001, has yet to extend his contract which ends in June with the Giallorossi.
