Given begins talks with City

Newcastle have confirmed they have given goalkeeper Shay Given permission to talk to Manchester City.

Although a fee has yet to be agreed for the Republic of Ireland international, he appears to be closing in on a move to the Eastlands club.

Kinnear revealed earlier this week that the Magpies were disappointed with City’s offer of £5m for the player.
