Liam Lawrence and Ricardo Fuller could be restored to Stoke’s starting line-up as Tony Pulis’ team attempt to turn around a barren run of one point from six Barclays Premier League games at home to Manchester City.

Fuller, who served a three-match ban for slapping team-mate Andy Griffin, came on as a substitute in Tuesday’s defeat at Tottenham and is likely to be promoted ahead of Richard Cresswell.

Lawrence, who has not started a game since he tripped over his pet dog and sprained an ankle in September, may return on the right flank, in which case Amdy Faye could be the man to step down.

Andy Griffin will replace Andy Wilkinson (foot) at right-back and Ibrahima Sonko is on stand-by for centre-back Abdoulaye Faye, who came off at half-time at White Hart Lane because of flu symptoms.

Provisional squad: Sorensen, Griffin, Shawcross, Abdoulaye Faye, Sonko, Higginbotham, Lawrence, Delap, Amdy Faye, Whelan, Etherington, Beattie, Fuller, Cresswell, Simonsen, Kitson, Pugh, Olofinjana, Tonge.
