Wolves close in on Quashie loan
Wolves are poised to sign Nigel Quashie on loan from West Ham until the end of the season – just days after promotion rivals and near-neighbours Birmingham opted not to extend his stay at St Andrew’s.
The experienced midfielder spent the maximum three months on an emergency loan at Blues but boss Alex McLeish decided not to take his interest in the Londoner any further having bolstered his midfield ranks during the January window.
But McCarthy has pounced quickly to snap up the 30-year-old and he was at their Compton training ground on Thursday with a view to completing a move.
If a deal did go through, Quashie would be the second Hammers player to arrive at Molineux in the space of a week after Kyel Reid completed a similar deal until the end of the season.
The former Portsmouth and West Brom man would be unable to face Middlesbrough in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Molineux having played against Wolves for Birmingham in the previous round.
