Kaka father expected in Italy

The father of AC Milan midfielder Kaka was expected in Italy today to discuss his son’s possible move to Manchester City.

City are reported to have offered more than £100m for the Brazil playmaker plus a record-breaking salary and Bosco Leite, who acts as his son’s advisor, will meet a delegation of Milan officials to clarify the situation.

Noises coming out of the San Siro over the weekend suggest the Serie A giants are willing to negotiate a transfer.

Milan’s general manager Adriano Galliani said: “The future of Kaka is not already set in stone. We still have to evaluate, think hard and decide.

“We are in a particularly difficult time with financial problems all over the world and those spread to football.

“What has changed from a year ago? Quite simply, the world is worth half of what it was. Things have changed.

“Unfortunately football is built in a certain way so now you cannot carry on without the cheques from a patron as other clubs keep on raising the financial bar.”

And coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted he had already contemplated life without the 2007 world player of the year, adding: “If he were to leave, I would be very sorry. If things were to change, then I would have to consider a team without Kaka.

“We as a club have always worked together to create a team and that is precisely what will happen after this affair.”

City manager Mark Hughes, though, warned that any deal is a long way from being completed.

“We are a million miles away from actually concluding the deal. The scale is large and there are too many elements to it.

“It’s not a case of talking to the club, talking to the boy and getting the deal done in 24-48 hours. You have to give it the time that it deserves.”

Kaka played in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina and as he was substituted off in the second half he put his hand to his heart, waved emotionally and applauded the fans.

“The fans showed a great gesture of affection to Kaka,” Ancelotti added. “There are no replacements for Kaka because he is unique.”
