Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has insisted the door remains open for Stephen Ireland to return to the international fold.

The 69-year-old Italian is adamant he has had no contact with the Manchester City midfielder amid repeated speculation he is ready to end his self-imposed exile from international football.
