Helguson completes QPR switch

QPR have completed the signing of striker Heidar Helguson from Bolton on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him at Loftus Road until the end of June 2011.

The Iceland international joined Rangers on loan in November and has since gone on to make seven appearances for the Coca-Cola Championship side, scoring three goals.

Helguson told the club’s official website, www.qpr.co.uk: “I have really enjoyed my loan spell here and I am happy that my future is sorted out.

“I believe we have a great opportunity to push on in the second half of the season and I am looking forward to playing my part in what promises to be an exciting future for this club.”

Manager Paulo Sousa said: “Heidar has proved to be a valuable addition to the squad in recent weeks and I am delighted we’ve managed to bring him here on a permanent deal.”
