Adam ready to earn his Gers

Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has pledged to stay at Ibrox and fight for his place.

The midfielder was surprisingly thrown into Saturday’s home game with rivals Celtic, which Rangers lost 1-0 to a Scott McDonald goal, having been out of action since the defeat at Hearts almost a month earlier.

Reports this month claimed the 23-year-old has been told by boss Walter Smith he is free to find a new club and he was linked with Nottingham Forest before Colin Calderwood’s departure from the City Ground.

But while speculation increases as to which Rangers players will depart next month to allow fresh faces to be brought in, Adam claims he is going nowhere.

“I’m happy at this club and I still have three and a half years left on my contract,” he said.

“I’m happy being at Rangers and being a Rangers player. Unless someone else thinks otherwise,

then I’m happy to be at this fantastic club.”
