First half scoreless at Ibrox

HT: Rangers 0 Celtic 0

Rangers had a goal chalked off in the first half of a frantic Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Celtic at Ibrox.

In the 11th minute Hoops’ keeper Artur Boruc failed to clear a Steven Davis corner and when the ball dropped almost on the line, Ibrox defender Kirk Broadfoot challenged him to bundle it over only to see referee Craig Thomson award a foul.

The home side had the best of possession but failed to seriously threaten the Celtic goal again.

The champions were offering little threat as the home fans taunted their Celtic counterparts about the absence of Aiden McGeady, the Hoops midfielder who was missing due to a club ban following a dressing room bust-up with boss Strachan.

A pulsating and frenetic game continued apace and in the 27th minute, Adam was shown the first yellow of the day for a late tackle on Robson.

Moments later Miller again fired wide from the edge of the box after Boyd played him in with Mendes, twice, also missing the target from long range.

As the players continued to fly into tackles, Celtic left-back Lee Naylor was cautioned for a foul on Davis.
