Celtic confirm Zaluska deal

Celtic have signed Dundee United goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska on a pre-contract agreement.

Celtic have signed Dundee United goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska on a pre-contract agreement.

The 26-year-old will complete his move to the Scottish champions at the end of the season, when his current deal with the Tannadice club expires.

Celtic were expected to make a move for Zaluska after it emerged last week he had rejected the offer of a new contract at United.

The player confirmed at the time he had been holding talks with the Parkhead club about a possible summer move, saying: “I have ambition to play at the highest level and a move like this would make that possible.

“I have been in the United team for a year now and I think I am ready for a step up.”

The move to the east end of Glasgow will see Zaluska battle fellow Pole and friend Artur Boruc for the gloves next season.

A statement on the Hoops’ official website, www.celticfc.net, confirmed: “Celtic Football Club are delighted to announce that Lukasz Zaluska has signed a pre-contract agreement and will join at the end of this season.

“The Polish keeper signed for Dundee United in 2007 and he will remain under the Tannadice club’s registration until June 1, 2009, when he will officially join Celtic.”
