West Brom striker Roman Bednar came closest to breaking the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes of the bottom-three Premier League clash with Manchester City at The Hawthorns.

The Czech international hit the post with a low, 20-yard drive in one of the few moments of excitement during the first half.

The visitors’ best attempt saw Scott Carson cling on to a rising drive from Gelson Fernandes.
