Wayne Rooney was twice denied as Manchester United’s search for an opener continued in their FIFA Club World Cup Final against LDU Quito.

United dominated the opening period, with Carlos Tevez and Park Ji-sung going close.

But it was Rooney who threatened most with a couple of fiercely struck shots from 20 yards that Jose Cevallos unconvincingly kept out.
