Duo joining Owls board

Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Lee Strafford and Nick Parker as new board members.

Geoff Hulley had been the only shareholding director on the Owls board after Dave Allen quit as chairman in November 2007 and Keith Addy left in January of this year.

Sheffield-based businessmen Strafford and Parker are not connected to any of the possible investors interested in the Championship club, as revealed at last night‘s annual general meeting.

However, they have an independent remit to help finalise an investment deal before a deadline of March 31.

Strafford, 36, is the former co-founder and CEO of PlusNet plc, while 48-year-old Parker, was previously CFO of Dyson Group plc.

The Yorkshire side are in negotiations with a four-man consortium which is keen to invest in the club, currently around £25m (€26.6m) in debt.
