Strike action averted at Drogheda Utd after last-ditch talks

Strike action has been averted at Drogheda United after a meeting between the players and Chairman Vincent Hoey today.

It means tomorrow night's season-ending clash with Saint Patrick’s Athletic at United Park will go ahead as planned.

The squad had been considering the action after getting pay packets of just €200 each last week.

They had been promised at least 30% of their wages as part of the arrangements to help the club through examinership.

Speaking after the meeting, players’ spokesman Shane Robinson said the team would line out as normal, and that they would "fulfil their obligations until the end of the season".
