Ferdinand fancies role under Redknapp

Former Tottenham striker Les Ferdinand has admitted his interest in a coaching role at the club under new boss Harry Redknapp.

The 41-year-old, who played for the club from 1997-2003, has been linked with a return to White Hart Lane to work with the forwards.

Ferdinand revealed he has spoken to Redknapp but no serious discussions over a position have yet taken place.

Ferdinand told Sky Sports News: “We have had a brief chat and I wished him all the best, because I know Harry through his son Jamie and I have met him on many occasions.

“We have had a brief chat but nothing concrete. We will sit down and have a chat about it and see where we go.

“If they feel the strikers could benefit from something I could give to them then I would be more than happy to go there and help.

“I imagine it would be with the strikers and if that’s what’s right for all parties maybe we’ll do it.”

Two other former Spurs players in Teddy Sheringham and Tim Sherwood are also thought to be in the frame to join Redknapp’s backroom staff.

Ferdinand added: “The boys care about the club and want to see the club successful.

“We are all in the same boat and that’s what we want, successful Spurs. If we can all get in there are have our little bit, all well and good.”
