The Los Angeles Galaxy have pulled out of their December trip to Australia to play the Queensland Roar due to David Beckham’s likely loan stint with AC Milan.

Reports in the United States suggest the former England captain did not want to risk getting injured before the start of his expected short-term loan switch to the Rossoneri, over which he is currently in talks.

With the 33-year-old’s availability in doubt, the MLS club have opted to call off the December 11 encounter in Brisbane.

“To avoid disappointment for the many fans that were expected to travel to Brisbane from all parts of Australia for this event, it was decided to postpone this game before tickets went on sale to the general public,” said Tom Payne, the Galaxy’s president of business operations, in a statement.

“Fans with tickets as a result of a priority pre-purchase this week will receive a full refund.

“We are very hopeful that we will be able to re-schedule the game in Brisbane in the near future and will make this a priority for our organisation.”
