King names women’s Irish U-19 team

Republic of Ireland women’s senior international manager, Noel King has announced a 21-strong squad to face Iceland in the UEFA EURO 2009 women’s championship play-off on 26th and 30th October.

Republic of Ireland women’s senior international manager, Noel King has announced a 21-strong squad to face Iceland in the UEFA EURO 2009 women’s championship play-off on 26th and 30th October.

King has promoted three players from the Irish Under-19 team as his side face into the most important fixtures for Irish women’s football in the association’s history.

Coming into the squad are Amy Ryan, Gillian McDonnell and Louise Quinn who are all members of Susan Ronan’s Irish Under-19 team.

Ronan's side eased their way through the first qualifying phase of the UEFA championship with comprehensive victories over Greece, Iceland and Israel.

The Irish will host Iceland in the first leg, play off on Sunday 26th October at Richmond Park, before travelling to Iceland for the return leg on Thursday 30th October.
