Limerick and Wexford trade blame for match cancellation

Last night's Eircom League First Division clash between Wexford Youths and Limerick 37 was called off in bizarre circumstances after the visitors refused to play the game.

Limerick are blaming the decision on a lack of adequate warm-up facilities at Ferrycarrig Park.

The club says its players were asked to prepare for the game on a back pitch that was inadequate due to poor lighting.

It also says players were blocked from the main pitch by the home side's stewards.

However, Wexford Youths manager Mick Wallace says this was not the case and he believes Limerick just didn't want to play the game.
