Man arrested in connection with attack on Lennon
A man was arrested today in connection with an alleged assault on former Celtic captain Neil Lennon.
Lennon, 37, who is now a coach at the club, was treated for minor injuries following an incident in Glasgowâs Ashton Lane on September 1.
Strathclyde Police said today they had arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the assault.
He is being held in police custody and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.
The arrest comes after the force released two still images and a video clip of two men seen on the cityâs Ashton Lane around the time of the attack.
Police said the arrest had been made as a âdirect resultâ of the footage.
The force said inquiries were continuing to trace another man in connection with the incident and appealed for witnesses.
The incident happened hours after Lennon was in the Celtic dugout during his clubâs 4-2 home defeat to Rangers.
Irishman Lennon left Celtic as a player in 2007 and joined Nottingham Forest.
He later played for the Wycombe Wanderers before returning to Celtic as a first-team coach.
