Barnes defends Keegan exit

Former Newcastle midfielder John Barnes believes Kevin Keegan was right to quit the club last week if transfers had been carried out without his consent.

After days of emergency talks geared towards persuading Keegan to stay at St James’ Park, he resigned for the second time six days ago, claiming “clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want”.
