David Tyrrell's first goal for Finn Harps greatly eased their relegation worries as they moved four points clear of the bottom three with a game in hand.

Harps were rewarded for a bright start with the lead goal on 15 minutes.

Davy Byrne had a shot bravely blocked by UCD skipper Conor Kenna before left winger Tyrrell got forward to score with a terrific 30-yard drive that gave keeper Matt Gregg little chance.

Harps hit the woodwork twice before the break through Tyrrell and then Chris Breen.

The Donegal side remained the better side into the second half with Gregg having to make three terrific stops to deprive Marc Mukendi and Michael Funston, twice.

Breen finally added a second goal in the 90th minute when running from the halfway line to take the ball around Gregg and shoot home.
