Three-goal Rovers add to Cork misery
Shamrock Rovers 3 Cork City 0
Joseph Ndo scored one goal and made the other two as frustration got the better of Cork when their week came to a sad end with abject defeat at Tolka Park.
Though Cork's Colin Healy and Joe Gamble saw much of the ball in the first half, it was Rovers who stole the lead nine minutes before the break.
Dan Murray and Pat Sullivan failed to clear the lines under pressure from Tadhg Purcell and midfielder Ndo fired past Mick Devine.
Ndo then worked the oracle to set up Sean O'Connor to slip the ball past the out-rushing Devine for Rovers' second goal on 56 minutes.
Four minutes later Gamble was sent off for a second booking inside a minute.
Eoin Doyle added Rovers' third goal from another Ndo assist three minutes later.
