Derry ease in quarter-finals of Ford Cup
Kildare County 0 Derry City 6
Thomas Stewart, Clive Delaney and Mark Farren all scored twice as Derry eased into the quarter-finals of the FAI Ford Cup with a facile win over Kildare County at the Brandywell.
First Division strugglers County had conceded home advantage to get a better gate after Saturday's original fourth round tie was rained off.
And John Ryan's side all but conceded the match within half an hour as Derry ran up a 3-0 lead.
Midfielder Stewart tapped home Derry's first from Niall McGinn's low cross after just seven minutes.
Delaney then headed Kevin Deery's 13th minute corner to the net for the second goal before the big central defender tapped in a third from Kevin McHugh's cross on the half hour.
Stewart added his second on 80 minutes with substitute striker Mark Farren completing the route with his brace of goals on 82 and 89 minutes.
