Scolari is the new Mourinho, says Terry

John Terry believes new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is a "top manager" who possesses Jose Mourinho's charisma.

John Terry believes new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is a "top manager" who possesses Jose Mourinho's charisma.

The Brazilian was appointed Blues manager in June following Portugal's exit from Euro 2008, replacing Avram Grant who was sacked despite leading the team to the brink of the Premier League and Champions League double before being pipped in both by Manchester United.

The same teams are expected to be the major contenders for honours again this season and Terry believes Scolari is the right man to lead the Blues' challenge.

The 27-year-old told the Daily Mail: "A top manager will always make a difference. And we've got a top manager again. A World Cup winner and a great football man.

"Tactically he is very aware and when he talks everyone listens. He has that aura about him.

"He doesn't speak very often but when he does he gets the attention of everyone. We needed that.

"He also has that fear factor. We haven't really seen that side of him yet but I'm sure we will.

"And when he occasionally raises his voice you think: 'Oh, there it is'.

"He also likes to have a joke and a laugh. He has that charisma Mourinho had."
