Candystripes on target to retain FAI eircom League Cup
Galway United 0 Derry City 2
Derry City are still very much on target to retain the FAI eircom League Cup for the fourth season in a row as they beat Galway United with second half goals from Sammy Morrow and Niall McGinn in tonight's semi-final at Terryland Park.
Striker Mark Farren missed a penalty on 68 minutes when Gary Rogers dived to his left to save.
But the Candystripes were in front four minutes later after Galway defender John Fitzgerald handled the ball in his area. This time Morrow made no mistake with his spot kick.
McGinn made victory certain for Derry on 83 minutes after accepting a cross from the left by Farren, he raced through a ragged Galway defence to fire home past Rogers from 16 yards.
