Rovers steal the points at the Brandywell

Tadhg Purcell was Shamrock Rovers' super sub with a late winner to stun Derry at the Brandywell.

Though Rovers shaded the first half, Derry should have been in front at the break but for a shocking miss on 31 minutes.

Thomas Stewart skinned Corey Treacy to cross, but Ciaran Martyn, facing a simple tap-in, mis-kicked with the goal gaping.

But Rovers remained marginally the better side into the second half and got their reward on 83 minutes when Padraig Amond set up Purcell to shoot past Gerard Doherty.
