Bohemians were the only winners at Turner's Cross tonight as the third-versus-second clash between Cork and St Patrick's finished scoreless.

The result leaves Pat Fenlon's Gypsies a point clear at the top with two games in hand.

Cork had the better of the first half, creating the only two chances of note.

Joe Gamble, a transfer target for St Pat's earlier this month, burst forward to drill a shot narrowly wide on 28 minutes.

Two minutes later, right-back Neal Horan picked out the run of striker Dave Mooney who controlled the ball well only to plant his shot wide.

Cork midfielder Darren Murphy headed narrowly over the bar from a corner early in the second half.

St Pat's came more into it in the second 45 minutes without really creating a clear-cut chance as Cork finished with a flourish.

Saints' keeper Barry Ryan made a terrific double save to deprive Colin Healy and Darren Murphy before Denis Behan's follow-up shot was blocked away by Stephen Paisley all in the 88th minute.

Ryan then had to stretch to tip over the bar from Darren Murphy's header from Danny Murphy's superb delivery from a free-kick a minute later.

Keith Fahey had a chance in stoppage time for St Pat's, but his shot trickled just wide.
